HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

So Christmas is over and I am supposed to be cleaning house and doing all these things. Instead I am sitting around moaning cause I can't move. We were out having fun on Friday and had a slight mishap in youngest son's truck. I got the worst of it with whiplash and I think broken ribs again. Of course they are on the opposite side of the ones I broke last year. But I will mend.

Midnight Crafter isn't improving very fast. And I am not so I can help her. Thank heavens for her family.

Hope the little boys in the family are better. I am glad 2008 is almost over!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Midnight Crafter came home this afternoon so it will be merry for her family and me. Youngest son and his fiance left at 7:30 pm so they will be traveling all night to get here. I hope they are careful as it is windy and slick out there.

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I love you all.

News of the Midnight Crafter

Midnight Crafter is in the hospital in a neighboring town with a severe case of pancreatitis. We almost lost her Monday night. She has to be without food and water for the next week and stay there until they get her well.

Her kids have sure stepped up and taken over. I am very proud of them.

Please remember her in your prayers. This is such a bad time to be sick. She says she has never been this sick in her life.

Winter Has Arrived!!!

The calendar says it is still fall, but the below zero says it is winter. We had 20 below this morning and it got to 4 below for our high today.

My car ignition wouldn't turn. I think the car would start cause it is plugged in, but the ignition must be frozen. So I called a friend to taxi me to send the last of the packages, and run my other errands.

Now on to Christmas cards and letters. I hope your weather is better.

New Job

After 10 years or so of being Compassionate Service leader for our church I was released this morning. It was a relief as I was in charge of all the women in the church, funerals, illnesses etc. I am now Relief Society secretary. New challenge but I think it will be a welcome change.

My Christmas tree is up and decorated. I know it is early, but I do enjoy it after it is all done. Now to get the gifts out of here to the four corners of the United States.

I hope everyone has a good week.

Reasons to be Thankful------

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all who read this blog. I am so thankful for each of you.

I am thankful to have B's wall hanging done and now I can get ready for Christmas. I had a freezer quit and didn't catch it soon enough so A and I cleaned out a fifteen foot freezer of spoiled food yesterday. I have bruises and other battle scars. I leaned over to get the last of the stuff out of the bottom and guess what, my broken ribs are now really sore again. I am thankful that job is done.

I am thanful to live where I do. I have seen beautiful sunrises and sunsets lately. It hasn't been too cold yet and I have a good neighbor that packs wood for me.

Too many other things to be thankful for. I am glad to be able to stay in my own home and hope I can for more years. I guesss I am just plain thankful for life itself. We are truly blessed!!!

We Have a Bingo!!!

Tonight G and I had our annual Bingo for Books date. Since she is eighth grade this is the last one I guess. Anyway between the two of us she got 11 books. She gave two to a girl who didn't do as well. She still has lots of reading material.

I went to the play all three nights and enjoyed it more each night. Lots of talent in our small community. The fall musical always includes all ages and is always outstanding.

I am still quilting on B's wall hanging. Getting closer to getting it done. It surely has taken me a long time. I hope it will look okay when I am done.

Where Are You?

So everyone is either too busy to blog or MC scared everyone off. Haven't heard a thing for several days.

It is trying to rain and snow. My wood carrier neighbor is gone for ten days so I am on my own to pack all my wood. And it is wet and soggy.

The leaves on my apple trees were beautiful this year. I can't remember when they were that pretty orange. Now the trees are bare and sad looking.

Let's hear from you. Please?????

Random Thoughts

I hate grey, cold, windy days. My house is so dark I can hardly see to quilt with all the front room lights on.

My step-mother's car sits in my yard with a new battery, new oil change, etc. and I have decided not to drive it till the estate is settled. I have permission, but the ranch insurance would not be worth taking a chance on it. So when A comes over we will cover it again and wait.

I hope you all voted. At least now we can get rid of the negative ads and the endless phone calls which I didn't answer because they came from "Unknown".

Have a good week everybody. I love you.

Spooktacular Beauty

I hope everyone has had a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! Who could imagine that on Halloween in northern Wyoming you would be able to take pictures of a hanging pot of blooming snapdragons as pretty as can be. Also A found blooming geraniums in my cellar when he took the dahlia bulbs down. The geraniums are in a box with bare roots.

The storm windows are on so let the wind blow and the rain and snow come. I am ready for it. Not!!!

Boring!!!

Son #1 called me to see if I am still alive. I had not posted a blog for almost two weeks. I am sure no one is interested in my boring days. But I am still packing wood in, ashes out, quilting on B's wall hanging that she wanted done when school started etc. I spend my days looking forward to C's emails and A's nightly phone calls. Keep blogging. I love to read about your days.

I Quit!!!

I have officially canned the last jar of stuff for this season. I did 3 quarts of tomato juice this afternoon. Everything is out of the garden but the dahlia bulbs which have to be dug this next week. I was sad when I looked at the frozen plants yesterday. Oh, well, there will be another year. I hope everyone is well and happy.

Ice and Cold

The snow has stopped but now it is icy. Ice and a cane do not go good together and my wood box is completely empty. The wood is all covered with snow and wet. Wish I had a genie to pack some for me. I hope everyone has a good week. Stay warm!!!

Almost finished!!!

With the forecast of snow and daytime temperatures of 30 to 40 by Sunday I have been frantically trying to get the flowers dug and everything picked. One more day should almost do it. It has been a beautiful long fall. We are six weeks beyond where we usually have frost. So far we have not had a killing frost. I sure enjoy reading what everyone is doing. Love to all.

Indian Summer

We are having beautiful Indian Summer. I just picked tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and a zucchini out of my garden. I know winter is on its way, but I am enjoying this beautiful weather. If it lasts long enough I may get everything ready for winter. I hate to give up my beautiful flowers but it is about time to put the geraniums in the cellar till Spring.

I Want My New Car!!~!

I went to watch Georgi play volleyball, too, yesterday. Midnight Crafter was parked on one side of the gym and I was on the other side. When I was ready to come home my car wouldn't start. I had to find Georgi (who was still watching the B team play) and call MC to come get me. By the time she got there I had the darn thing started. My nephew came over and checked what he had fixed before, but it seemed alright. It worked just fine today to go to church and back.

I can't drive the other car in my yard till the estate is settled which may be a year or so. Who knows.

So I may be stranded several times before then. I sure love all you busy people!!!

Thanks, but No Thanks!!!!

Today I get a call that my stepmother's will has been found. It names her nephew as her personal representative and me next in line. Since my adopted sister is sure the nephew wants nothing to do with it, I had to call the lawyer that I, too, wanted no part of it. My adopted sister is sole beneficiary so let her settle the mess.

I finished second son's peaches and pears yesterday. I am making jam out of the rest of mine today. I am still tired from helping serve 200 people a dinner after my dear friend's (and cousin by marriage) funeral on Tuesday. Since our church is being remodeled we had to have it in the community hall and it was sorta hard. But we did it. It will be nice when our church is done.

Finished at last????

We finished cleaning out my step-mother's house this week. I have her car in my yard, but can't drive it till the estate is settled. That is a whole different story and a mess. My house is full of boxes waiting to be sorted, but I have been canning etc. Still have tomatoes to can and pears and a few more peaches to do for second son. Guess it will all get done sooner or later. If not it didn't need doing in the first place.

Boring--Same ole Stuff

I never have anything exciting to blog. I am still helping clean my step-mother's house. I sold some of my old furniture today at a neighbor's yard sale to make room for some different old furniture. Then I canned tomatoes and tomato juice. I see fresh snow on the mountains again. Winter is coming.

Snow on the Mountains

Fall is here!!! When the fog lifted this morning there is lots of snow on them thar mountains. I just hope it doesn't frost for a little while. I have lots of green tomatoes yet.

I turned my furnace up yesterday so it would come on. It rained all day and was cold. We needed the rain, tho.

Hope you all have a good week.

Nearing the End

I think about one more day and we will be through with my step-mother's house. Yesterday we played chair switch-er-oo. We took the two chairs out of my front room over to the neighbor's for her yard sale and put two of Leona's chairs in. I have stuff sitting all over to sort and put away, but I must pick more tomatoes and cucumbers today. Frost is on the way and then "good-bye" garden. Sure fun to read all the blog updates.

Super Klutz Granny

I crashed and burned on my step-mother's kitchen floor yesterday while cleaning out her house. I have a very pretty swolen black knee and a big piece of missing skin on my elbow. Also a very sore shoulder. Didn't break anything, tho. So once more I checked my bone density without paying for the expensive test.

Hope everyone is okay. I love you.

Time Out

I took time out to have lunch with the ladies I used to ride to the temple with. There were two from Worland, two from Lovell and me. We went to Dirty Annies above Shell and really had a fun visit. We try to do it at least twice a year.
Today I have to pick tomatoes and cucumbers and make pickles and try to get caught up. I will never get caught up 'cause I am so slow any more.

What a Difference a Year Makes!!!

Last year I walked (with my cane) five miles at the Relay for Life. This year I struggled to make almost 3/4 of a mile. I did raise $600 dollars, tho, $100 more than last year. It was fun but it really got cold before morning and the dew made everything very wet. Now to get back to finishing Barbara's quilt and do more canning, cutting wood for winter and cleaning Leona's house and disposing of all her stuff. Keep up the interesting news. I love it.

Summer is over already???

It is cold tonight. We are supposed to get snow on the Big Horns. I know I complained about how hot it was, but I am not ready for this.

We had 88 people sign the book at Leona's graveside service. Quite a tribute. We spent three hours at her house but there are many more hours taking care of things. We have 60 days to get it cleared out.

I picked a lot of tomatoes today and made more dill pickles. I just hope it doesn't freeze for awhile.

Tomorrow night is Relay for Life. Wish us luck that it won't rain!!!

Stress, Stress and more Stress!!

Thanks to all of you for your expressions of sympathy . We will set Leona's funeral time etc. tomorrow and I will let you know.

There is so much we don't know about what to do that I am very tired and very stressed. I sure learned that you need to have your affairs in order and in black and white. Hopefully I can do that and save the grief for those left behind.

I am glad we are getting a network of blogs. It is so fun to hear what you are doing. I love all of you.

All shook up

I just came from the nursing home with the feeling it will be the last time I see Leona alive. She is really bad. It really hit me in spite of our differences all these years.

I am progressing on the basket and plan to make dill pickles tomorrow. Too much to do and so little time. And I am supposed to be retired.

It is fun to hear from all of you.

Dog Days of Summer

My life isn't as interesting as the rest of you. I have enjoyed all your blogs and travelogues. It has been a hot summer and has gone by so fast it is unreal. I am about to start making pickles this week. It takes a lot of water every day, but the cucumbers are setting on.

Family reunion was last Saturday and we had a good crowd. I wish the rest of you could have been there.

The Relay for Life is on the 15th. I am making a rope basket for our contribution to the silent auction. Thanks to lks for her contribution. I will be walking in honor of Ray, Pat and Barbara. Still time to contribute if you want to. Will let you know how it goes.

Salad, Anyone?

I picked a tomato, a pepper, and a cucumber (Yeah) this morning. Add some cottage cheese and a green onion and it is lunch!!!

Good luck to East Coast Adventurers this week. May you have a safe and uneventful journey. I will be waiting to hear how it goes.

Hope each of you have a good week. It was 102 yesterday and is supposed to be hot all week. Ugh.

Learning or just lucky???

Hi everyone---
Yesterday I had trouble all day getting on to Bookworm, Midnight Crafter and Roger from my blog. Last night I decided to remove Bookworm and put her back in. After that all three worked. Beginner's luck, I guess.

I have been talking to my cucumbers as I have had one inch cucumbers for two weeks. This morning I have two three inchers. Also have two tomatoes turning color. I am just impatient, I guess.

Hope you all have a good day.

I just created this blog for Mom. She will be blogging in short order now!!! bh
